Eclipsing the Moon
I love the moon. I love it in all its different phases. A small silver sliver of moon hanging low in the sky just before dawn can magically pull on my heartstrings just as a big yellow full moon slowly rising can. There is something alluring and otherworldly though, being in a desert landscape bathed in the soft light of a full moon. So every month, I eagerly anticipate the full moon slowly drifting from behind the Hajar Mountains higher into the sky. Imagine my surprise as I looked out my window and saw only a sliver of moon hanging low over the mountains when I expected to see a big yellow orb. “Hey! Who ate the moon?” And then it slowly dawned on me that I was witnessing a total eclipse. What an unexpected gift it was!
