The Joys of Being Home

The transition from traveling to the familiar daily routines of life sometimes take a bit longer than expected. My first two days back home felt surreal, but as the days passed, I slowly started to revel in the comforts of familiarity. The first time Michael and I went for a walk on the beach, I experienced an overwhelming sensation of being home. This is an activity we both love, and sunset on the beach in RAK, is perhaps what I love most about living here. I also realise, that as summer is approaching, these moments are short-lived, and as such, appreciate them even more. Needless to say, we found a couple more “new” shells for our growing collection, and as I photographed and tried to categorise them, my familiar routines came flooding back. I guess we are creatures of habit, and familiarity induces a sense of safety and belonging.

Now that I am back home, I can start to reflect on all the wonderful experiences I had in India. I will document these in the upcoming weeks and post them under the “Travel Stories” section of the blog. So be sure to check this out from time to time. My first contribution to “Your Life is A Trip” also appeared this week, so read my story “Whispers from the Past” on their site.
